changing doll diaper

Lamaze.

The name is practically synonymous with Childbirth Education in the minds of many.

You’ve seen it in the movies. A laboring woman is hollering and sweating in a hospital bed, and someone reminds her to hee-hee-hoooooo and she tries it a few times before screaming out, “YOU DID THIS TO ME!!!!” and crushing her partner’s hand.

Doesn’t seem very effective, does it? There’s a better, modern way! Heartland Doulas offers private, customizable childbirth education. We believe that such an intimate topic as childbirth deserves an equally intimate setting. Rather than meeting in a large conference room for Lamaze class with 20 strangers, our classes are held in your home or our office, just you and your childbirth educator. We recognize that you don’t need to learn how to put a diaper on a baby doll, you need your important questions answered! We have designed our curriculum to be flexible so that we can offer it in a comfortable, relaxed environment and you can ask an expert ALL of your questions, from the basic to the intimate:

  • What can I do prenatally to prepare for an easier birth?
  • How will I know I’m in labor?
  • When do I go to the hospital?
  • Can I have a homebirth?
  • How do I prepare for a homebirth?
  • Can I have a birth center birth?
  • What do contractions feel like?
  • How can I manage labor pain?
  • What if I want an epidural?
  • What if I don’t want an epidural?
  • What if I’m planning a c-section?
  • What are some reasons I might need a c-section?
  • What are some reasons I might need an induction?
  • Should I write a birth plan? What should be in it?
  • How can I reduce the likelihood of tearing?
  • Will I poop when I push?
  • How exactly am I supposed to push?
  • How do I breastfeed?
  • How do I choose the right type of formula?
  • What bottles are the best for my baby?
  • How do I swaddle?
  • Should I use a pacifier?

Using our curriculum customizer tool, our expert childbirth educators tailor your private class to meet your exact needs:
