Chances are, if you’ve even heard the word doula, you are only vaguely aware of what one might do. Maybe you’ve heard that they attend women who are in labor. Perhaps the word evokes an image of a lady with dreadlocks in a long skirt, dancing around and throwing out words like “yoni” and phrases like “opens like a flower.”
Maybe you’ve heard that a doula is a birth coach for a woman who is planning a natural birth.

Maybe some doulas are.

A Heartland Doula is much more than that. A Heartland Doula is physical and emotional labor support for a woman and her birth partner, regardless of their birth choices. A Heartland Doula knows how to support you no matter whether you are planning a natural birth, epidural, VBAC, HBAC, water birth, hospital birth, home birth, even a c-section.

A Heartland Doula will help you assess your birth options and write the birth plan that suits YOUR needs, not what she thinks your birth should look like.

A Heartland Doula will be at your birth in whatever capacity you need her to be and will help your partner be involved at exactly the level they want to be, whether they plan to stay by your head or catch the baby themselves! A Heartland Doula will provide non-judgmental, continuous support without an agenda of her own, and she will work cohesively with your team of doctors, midwives, and nurses to create a positive environment and leave you feeling positive about your overall birth experience.

Who wouldn’t want a doula like that???
